Welcome to Memorare. By downloading, installing, or using our iOS application ("the App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use the App.
1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using Memorare, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy. These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and Memorare.
2. Description of Service
Memorare is a contemplative prayer application that helps users pray the rosary with AI-generated meditations personalized to their intentions. The App provides:
- Guided rosary prayer experience with all 20 mysteries
- AI-generated meditations based on user intentions
- Post-prayer reflection conversations
- Prayer history tracking
- Memory system for personalization over time
3. AI-Generated Content Disclaimer
Important: Memorare uses artificial intelligence (Anthropic's Claude) to generate personalized meditations and respond to your reflections. You understand and agree that:
- AI-generated content is created algorithmically and may not always be theologically precise or appropriate
- The App is a prayer aid, not a substitute for clergy, spiritual directors, or mental health professionals
- AI meditations are offered for contemplative purposes and should not be taken as official Church teaching
- You should consult appropriate religious authorities for matters of doctrine or spiritual direction
- If you are experiencing a mental health crisis, please contact a qualified professional or emergency services
4. User Responsibilities
When using Memorare, you agree to:
- Use the App for its intended purpose of personal prayer and spiritual reflection
- Not use the App to generate content that is harmful, abusive, or violates any laws
- Not attempt to reverse engineer, modify, or hack the App
- Not use automated systems to access the App in ways that exceed reasonable personal use
- Take responsibility for maintaining the security of your device
5. Intellectual Property
The App and its original content, features, and functionality are owned by Memorare and are protected by international copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.
Traditional Catholic prayers included in the App (such as the Our Father, Hail Mary, and Glory Be) are part of the public domain. AI-generated meditations created for your personal use may be kept for your private devotional purposes.
6. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law:
- Memorare is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied
- We do not warrant that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of viruses or other harmful components
- We shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the App
- Our total liability for any claims arising from use of the App shall not exceed the amount you paid for the App (if any)
7. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Memorare, its affiliates, and their respective officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including reasonable attorney's fees) arising from your use of the App or violation of these Terms.
8. Third-Party Services
The App uses third-party services, including Anthropic's Claude AI for meditation generation. Your use of these services through our App is subject to their respective terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for the practices of these third parties.
9. Modifications to Service
We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the App (or any part thereof) at any time, with or without notice. We shall not be liable to you or any third party for any modification, suspension, or discontinuance of the App.
10. Changes to Terms
We may revise these Terms from time to time. The most current version will always be available within the App and on our website. By continuing to use the App after changes become effective, you agree to be bound by the revised Terms.
11. Governing Law
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the United States, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.
